Pete’s Pops to Open Stand at the Milwaukee Public Market
Expect to cool off with Pete’s Pops at the market with alcohol-favored popsicles, too.
Pete’s Pops – a business that has graced the pages of this magazine many times – is opening at the Milwaukee Public Market this summer. Owner Pete Cooney will debut the outdoor seasonal pop-up stand on June 25.
Cooney is calling the stand Sneaky Pete’s. It will be adjacent to The Draft Patio outside the market on St. Paul Avenue. The pops come in flavors like avocado, salted watermelon lemonade, and Vietnamese iced coffee. Cooney operates three permanent locations, including one on 38th and Vliet (which is also the production facility) and the newest spot in West Allis, on 71st and Rodgers. You can also find his seasonal carts at locations (farmer’s markets, street festivals) across the city.Photo by Adam Ryan Morris
At the public market pop-up, Cooney plans to also offer alcohol-flavored versions of his pops.
“My first day of pushing out a Pete’s Pops cart was in June of 2014 at the corner of Broadway and St. Paul Avenue in the Third Ward right outside the public market. To now have a seasonal location here, at one of Milwaukee’s most iconic destinations, is something that makes me incredibly proud, honored and thankful,” says Cooney. “The idea for Sneaky Pete’s has been sitting in my head for a while and was born out of years of public feedback asking for alcoholic versions of our frozen treats. I’m excited for the public to try our new alcoholic slushies and pop-tails, which will be inspired by our favorite pop flavors. We’ll also have a full selection of our signature non-alcoholic pops available for families and kids that visit the market!”
Hours for Sneaky Pete’s: Thurs-Sat noon-8 p.m.; Sun noon-6 p.m. – weather permitting.
